How ratings work
Rated games decide one number per game type: your short rating and your long rating. They never mix.
Where you start
Everyone starts at 1500. Results decide the rest.
What moves it
Only finished rated quick games against other players. Beating a stronger player gains more; losing to a weaker one costs more. A win is a win, whatever the margin: gammon, backgammon and mars count on the score, not on the rating.
The site keeps track of how sure it is about each rating. A new rating, or one that hasn't been played for a while, moves faster until results settle it.
